Stephen Browning Associates & Finella Devitt
Following a major capital development programme undertaken by for the museum in 2018-2020, Finella and Stephen were invited to develop a new 5-year Business Plan for the Corinium Museum in Cirencester. Our work considered both short-term solutions to improve the museum’s financial position following loss of income resulting from the pandemic, as well as a review of the full visitor offer including their programme of activity, exhibitions, workshops, meetings, digital proposals, retail, catering and venue hire offer, to see how these might be developed going forward.
The project involved careful consideration of market requirements, optimising use of all the new spaces within the museum and ensuring that the staff resources and expertise were in place to meet the Corinium’s growth objectives. Recommendations were made to increase revenue and profit contribution from admissions, retail, venue hire and fundraising. Through this consultancy it was also recognised by management that the museum needed vastly improved financial reporting and data management systems to allow the team to understand the performance of the museum with much greater speed and accuracy.
