Portsmouth Cultural Trust

Following the Theatre Strategy, Portsmouth City Council asked us to advise on the future of the Guildhall, the 2,200 seat concert hall in the centre of the city.

Our recommendation was that the council should end the agreement with the long standing commercial operator and set up a trust to manage the building and to develop its programming. We were subsequently asked by the council to set up the Portsmouth Cultural Trust to manage and operate the building and we advised on the appointment of the chair and the trustees. We also worked very closely with the new Board for the first eighteen months of its existence. The Cultural Trust has successfully run the Guildhall since 2011 and is now considering a major redevelopment of the building.
